Cleaning floating floors

Floor types, Sweepers, Know-how

Floating floors are also known as floating or raised floors.

What are floating floors

Floating floors are used to cover an underlying floor on which a metal frame (hive) is placed to support the chipboard and pressed wood squares, then covered with a coating. The covering can be made of laminate, PVC, carpet, wood, ceramic, stone, artificial mixes, etc. and becomes the surface intended for traffic.

Why are floating floors installed

This type of floor is used to insulate and cover pipes, electrical wires and telematic connection cables, allowing a quick and economical replacement of the surface when the panels are worn or damaged. They are also defined as antistatic surfaces because they allow the dissipation of electrostatic charges accumulated by the electrical cables present in the room.

Where are raised floors used?

They are very common in offices, banks, shops and in general where you have to cover a low quality surface (polished concrete) or you do not want to eliminate the previous flooring.

Cleaning a floating floor

You can use a sweeper, single disk machine or a scrubber In the latter two cases, in order to avoid the possible leakage of the detergent solution between the various panels and the consequent risk of wetting the electrical cables underneath, the flow of the solution must be regulated to a minimum or with the spray cleaning technique.

Floating floor hive support background surface.
Considering the structure of the hive below, it is recommended to clean with cable or battery operated machines with an operating weight of less than about 90 kg/sqm. The treated surfaces can be protected with special waxy emulsions (but not sealants) that preserve the property of dissipating the electrostatic charge.
