Atletica RCM Casinalbo is celebrating its 50th anniversary, making it one of the longest-running sports clubs in the Modena area.

 

RCM SpA would like to thank all the athletes, their families and the managers who, through their commitment, have helped make Atletica RCM a point of reference, not only in sports but also in the virtuous process of social aggregation.

 

Thanks to the energy crisis of 1973 and the resulting “car-free Sundays”, running became extremely popular in Italy, with thousands of people discovering the pleasure of running (or walking) on the road. There were prizes for everyone, and if there was a ham for the winner, it was worth putting in a little extra effort!
So, in 1975, a group of friends approached the world of running, looked for a sponsor, found one in a company that manufactured industrial cleaning machines, and founded “Atletica RCM Casinalbo”.
This marked the beginning of a long journey of sport and fun that grew rapidly, both in terms of the activities practised and the events organised, including the “Bravissima” running race with 1,500 participants.

In the mid-1980s, the club decided to also focus on track and cross-country running, affiliating it-self with FIDAL (the Italian Athletics Federation).
Thus, in addition to the amateur sector, a youth sector also began to grow.

Massimo Bosi, president of Atletica RCM, on behalf of the board members, coaches, family members and friends, would like to remind everyone that

“The spirit that drives us is not one of aggressive competitiveness, but of educating young people in the pure spirit of competition, respectful of the rules and their opponents, creating a peaceful environment where every young person can express their personality and competitive spirit, seeking, among the various disciplines, the one that allows them to excel and showcase their human qualities.

We are proud to have nurtured regional and Italian champions and athletes who have been called up to the national team, as well as to have organised several Italian walking championships in Maranello between the late 1990s and early 2000s.

In 2018, we broadened our horizons by joining Fisdir (Italian Federation of Paralympic Sports for the Intellectually Disabled), thus embarking on a new path aimed at athletes with disabilities. The results were not long in coming: our athletes have achieved prestigious results not only at national level but also in European and world events, even setting some national records.

This year, to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we will be organising a meeting on 12 June at the Spezzano athletics track in memory of judges Roberto Goldoni and Franco Benetti.

This will be another opportunity to reaffirm our presence in the regional calendar after hosting other important events in recent years, such as the Regional Relay Championships and the Youth Club Championships.

We are particularly proud of the fact that Atletica RCM Casinalbo, thanks to the long-standing support of RCM SpA and the Raimondi family, is now a sporting and social institution deeply rooted throughout the Ceramics District and in the municipality of Fiorano Modenese in particular.

We believe in sport as a school of life and will continue to spread this message with passion and dedication.”
