Types of sweepers

Floor machine types, Sweepers

Sweepers are used to remove dust and dirt from floors, including short-haired carpets, and to collect them in a special container without lifting dust when it passes over: from the very coarse material, such as metal residues, stones, wood, bricks, leaves, to the finest powders from ceramic or cement industries.

The sweeper carries out all these tasks very quickly and makes the whole environment cleaner, by removing dust from the ground without scattering it during its activity, since it is equipped with special filters. It removes all types of dust from floors and shelves before it is transported by air and deposits on other surfaces, requiring then to remove it manually or with vacuum cleaners.

ALFA Smart Traction: Mode of operation

Sweepers are made of:

  • cleaning unit: one or more side brushes move the heavy dirt and fine dust to a central brush that collects everything and loads it into a container;
  • a suctioning unit: a fan creates a vacuum that sucks the dust raised by the brushes inside the container, forcing it to pass through a filtering unit where it remains trapped.

According to width of the area to be cleaned and the type of usage, sweepers can be classified into:

  • walk-behind sweepers, with a cleaning hourly output up to 4000 m²/h;
  • ride-on sweepers, with a cleaning hourly output up to 20000 m²/h;
  • road sweepers (up to 1 M3 container), with a cleaning hourly output up to 23000 m²/h;
  • road sweepers (more than 1 M3 container), with a cleaning hourly output up to 70000 m²/h.

Sweepers can be powered by internal combustion, diesel, petrol or LPG engines, for outdoor use, or can be electrically powered (battery) for indoor use.
