Cleaning pvc floors

Floor types

Which solutions and which machines are more effective for cleaning PVC floors?

Resilient floors are elastic surfaces which, after being subjected to a dynamic stress which deforms them, will take up their original shape. They are used in public, hospital and industrial buildings, but also in GDOs for their specific wear and tear resistance properties, sound absorption, poor absorption of dirt, ease of maintenance and replacement. It is necessary to protect them with specific treatments, in order to preserve their features.

What is a PVC floor and how it is made

PVC is one of the most appreciated resilient floors. It is obtained by mixing polyvinylchloride, a product derived from petroleum, with various coloring and plasticizing components. It has high resistance to wear and light.

  1. HOMOGENEOUS PVC FLOOR
The PVC floor can be made of a uniform PVC layer (used in hospitals, nursing homes…).
  2. ETEROGENEOUS PVC FLOOR
This type of flooring is made by overlapping several layers, which are superficially coated by high-density PVC (used in shopping centers, kindergartens, residential centers and offices).
  3. NO WAX FLOOR
It is a flooring made of pure PVC, with high doses of wear resistance and which requires no wax protection.
  4. ANTISTATIC PVC FLOORS
It is the PVC floor used in rooms where electronic devices are active, for eliminating electrostatic currents (data processing centers and emergency rooms).

PVC floors cleaning machines: the solutions

For PVC cleaning we recommend the use of scrubbers with small and medium-sized disk brushes, although large ones are not excluded for rare cases of large surfaces to be cleaned.

The PVC floor is not particularly sensitive to chemicals, but we suggest to perform its maintenance with neutral detergents.

Once machine, accessories and detergent have been chosen, it is always advisable to carry out a test on a small surface in order to assess effectiveness and avoid any damage to the surface, for further information on specific brushes and on the ideal RCM solutions for a PVC floor, please contact us.
